The application will not open and I’m getting a “Network Error, cannot find the host” message. Why is this happening?

The “Network Error” message typically appears when the application cannot make a connection to the data network that your phone uses. This could be because the area you are in has bad data signal or the data signal is not even connected. The GolfLogix application needs some form of internet connection to open properly. To make sure the phone is set up correctly, please follow the steps below:

In the upper left hand corner of your phones screen, you should see the signal bars, 3G or E (Edge) and your cell phone provider. Make sure you are connected to the 3G network or E (Edge) network. Please note: Edge networks are slower than 3G and it could have a very poor connection and the GolfLogix application may not open.

Also, to make sure you’re connecting to the best possible connections, please check to make sure your 3G network option is turn on. To do so, go to “Settings” > “General” >”Network” and make sure “Enable 3G” is turned On. Important: A 3G connections drains battery life faster.

Is there any way to improve the battery life? I am unable to play a full round.

If you follow the suggestions below, you should be able to finish a 18 hole round with some battery life to spare. However, please keep in mind that whenever you use the GPS on your phone, it drains power to keep the signal active.

1) Change the brightness to 50% or lower, this drastically helps if you consistently have the phones’ screen on.

2) Lock your phone when yardages are not needed

3) After you’ve downloaded the course data, go into “Settings” > “General” > “Network” and turn off the “Enable 3G” option. After you changed the 3G option and re-opened the GolfLogix application, make sure to press “Yes” when it asks to resume the previous game played. The previous game played is the last course that was downloaded in GolfLogix.

Beyond the above suggestions, there is not much else you can do to drastically extend the battery life of any Smartphone. However, there are portable battery chargers available so you do not ever have to worry about battery life while on or off the golf course.

GolfLogix recommends the iMax battery charger, which can be purchased at www.golfgps.com/accessories . GolfLogix members get a special members discount on the portable battery charger.

I am getting a “GPS not available” message when I try to download a course. What do I do?

Generally, you would only see this message if you are trying to download a course while inside a building and if settings on the phone are not set properly. The following are steps to make sure your phones’ GPS settings are set properly:

Go into “Settings” > “General” > “Location Services” and make sure “Location Services” is set to On. Depending on which version of the iPhone OS you have, you will see GolfLogix as a separate option under Location Services. Make sure both GolfLogix and Location Services are set to On.

If you had to change any of the options to On, please step outside with a clear view of the sky and try downloading a course; it can be any course. If you aren’t anywhere near the selected course, you will receive an “Out of Range” message which means the GPS is working but you aren’t close enough to the course to get yardages.

If the troubleshooting above does not help, you may need to reboot your phone to refresh the network/GPS connections the iPhone is getting. Please reboot your phone while outside by pressing and holding the power button and using the slide bar to turn off your phone and then turn it back on.

If it still does not get a GPS connection the following is the last steps for troubleshooting:

Go to “Settings” > “General” > “Auto-Lock” and change it from 1 Minute to NEVER. Then, go to “Settings” > “General” > “Reset” > “Reset Network Settings” (Please note: This will reboot your phone and clear out all settings for Wi-Fi & VPN). Next, go outside with a clear view of the sky, open the GolfLogix application and try it again.

I paid for the Champion Membership and I am not getting any GPS yardages readings. I’m only getting aerial images of the holes and a blue enter score button. What’s going on?

This generally happens when the 24 hour trial expired and the "Continue as Club Member” button was pressed instead of the “Become a Champion Member”. This can also happen when you switch to a new iPhone and created a new account under a different email address and all that needs to be done is transfer the membership to the new supported iPhone.

When you paid for the annual Champion Membership, you were given a “Member Code”; this code needs to be used to attach your membership to your phone. To make sure you enter this code, download a course and when it loads to the starting hole you selected, there should be a banner at the top of the applications’ screen that says “Click here to become a Champion Member”, press on the arrow button to the right and enter the member code in the blank space then press “Tee it Up”.

In the future, if you ever get a replacement iPhone, when you install & open the GolfLogix application, there’s an option to transfer your membership to that phone by entering in your username & password.

When I download a course, all I see is the green screen and it says “<30” yards for distance even when I’m not near the course. Why is this?

This issue is due to the OS 4.0 upgrade on the iPhone 3G/3GS phones. Follow the steps below to troubleshooting the issue:

1) Go into “Settings” > “General” > “Location Services”.

2) Make sure Location Services & the GolfLogix application is set to On.

Once both are set to On, try downloading another course while outside with a clear view of the sky. If you are not near that course, you will get the “Out of Range” message, which means that you are too far to get yardages but it is getting a GPS connection.
